OnApp launches Version 2.0 of groundbreaking cloud hosting software

Categories: Web Hosting News

After two years of private testing, OnApp v 2.0 has been launched to respond to market demands for a cloud engine for hosting providers. OnApp v 2.0 provides hosting companies a cloud management system with multiple benefits that will increase revenues, cut costs and increase stability. OnApp has been successfully implemented by a handful of private companies who used it to deploy over 30,000 VPS servers worldwide, attesting to its flexibility, reliability and adoption in the marketplace.

“OnApp v 2.0 is the kind of solution that enables hosting companies to scale more efficiently and move from dedicated servers to clouds, and jump on board before the market leaves them behind. OnApp was a pioneer cloud engine that is now thoroughly market proven and is the most customizable cloud software that service providers can own and grow with. It will help hosting companies build their brands and reputations in the marketplace,” says Carlos Rego, MD of OnApp.

Initially, v 1.x of the OnApp cloud engine software was designed by a team with deep hosting experience to meet the specific market requirements of VPS.NET; the ability to deploy custom virtual machines in a matter of minutes, set up public or private clouds (with no overhead) and manage all server resources on a virtual platform. Additionally, support for multiple operating systems is handled with ease with OnApp’s technology, which enables simultaneous hosting of servers with various operating systems. It runs on commodity hardware, such as Dell or SuperMicro and it can adopt any SAN/Storage solution available.

“The demand for cloud hosting was beyond our expectations; more than 10,000 servers went live within seven months of entering the market, and have now deployed almost three times as much on our OnApp powered platform, making it the fastest growing entity within the UK2 Group, outselling dedicated servers 10:1” says Nick Nelson, MD of VPS.net.

Merrill Lynch estimates the cloud computing market will reach $160 billion by 2011,OnApp reduces the barriers to entry for hosting providers to tap into this lucrative and rapidly growing market.

OnApp is a fully customizable cloud engine, with built in failover and resource management, utility and resource based billing, support for both Windows and Linux VMs and can be deployed in less than one day.

Currently OnApp is offering a promotion that gives clients the first year for free and a subsequent monthly licensing fee of $10 per physical CPU core that includes free setup, integration and 24/7 phone support.

Hurricane Electric’s IPv6 Evangelist Owen DeLong to Discuss IPv6 at HostingCon 2010

Categories: Web Hosting News

Hurricane Electric, the world’s leading IPv6-native Internet backbone and colocation provider, today announced that its IPv6 Evangelist,  Owen DeLong, will discuss IPv6 transition at HostingCon 2010, the premier conference and trade show for the hosted services industry. The show will take place July 19-21 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. On Wednesday, July 21st, Owen DeLong will participate in a presentation entitled “Preparing for IPv6 Deployment.” Owen will join John Curran, President and CEO, American Registry of Internet Numbers, to discuss how network operators should strategically plan and implement IPv6 migration.  The discussion will include guidance on how corporate IT departments can migrate to a dual v4/v6 stack, with information on configuring DNS, web and e-mail servers, and DHCP/SLAAC.

“I plan to tell attendees how to gain an advantage over their competitors by beginning their IPv6 transition now,” said Owen DeLong, Hurricane Electric’s IPv6 Evangelist. “If done properly, IPv6 transition can be a relatively painless process and yield a number of advantages, such as simplified network configuration and IT service extensibility.”

Hurricane Electric first deployed IPv6 on its global backbone in 2001. This backbone is one of the few that is IPv6-native and does not rely on internal tunnels for its IPv6 connectivity. IPv6 is offered as a core service and every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity, as well as classic IPv4 connectivity.

Last November, Hurricane Electric announced that its IPv6 network had doubled in less than a year to more than 600 associated IPv6 backbones.  As of today, Hurricane Electric has further increased its count of associated IPv6 backbones to more than 830.

In addition to offering enterprises free IPv6 certification, last year Hurricane Electric released an IPv4 depletion Application for the iPhone and Google Android platform plus additional tools to educate CIOs and network administrators about the urgency of this transition.

About Hurricane Electric
Hurricane Electric is a leading Internet Backbone and Colocation Provider. Hurricane Electric operates its own global IPv4 and IPv6 network and owns several data centers in Fremont, California, running multiple N-by-10 Gbps links throughout North America, Europe and Asia.  Founded by Mike Leber in his garage in 1994, Hurricane Electric now operates the largest IPv6 Internet Backbone in the world as measured by the number of networks connected.

IntelePeer Partners with WorkSpace Communications

Categories: Web Hosting News

To provide complete, turnkey infrastructure, enabling service providers to offer hosted UC, SIP Trunking and On-demand communications services.

IntelePeer Inc., a provider of communications via cloud-based infrastructure, yesterday announced a partnership with WorkSpace Communications, a unified communications provider, to deliver an easily deployed, hosted unified communications (UC) offering based on Microsoft Office Communications Server.

The company explains that by combining its Quick Start SIP Trunking program, Voice Peering NetworkTM, and SuperRegistryTM with WorkSpace Communications’ patent-pending Microsoft OCS environment, which interoperates with any previously installed Microsoft Exchange implementation, they provide a complete, turnkey solution. Together, they enable service providers to offer hosted UC, SIP trunking and on-demand communications services that can be deployed almost instantly, without requiring extensive changes to related applications.

It further explains that its hosted SIP trunks are offered without requiring minimum commitments, eliminating up-front deployment risks and minimizing capital expenditures. Through its advanced network infrastructure, the company simplifies telecommunications by delivering carrier-quality service over public or private Internet Protocol (IP) connections. This spares customers from the need to change their current data provider or existing communications equipment, eliminating the lengthy delays associated with most service providers.

“The IntelePeer Quick Start program is optimized for Microsoft OCS,” said Margaret Norton, General Manager, Enterprise for IntelePeer. “We can turn around a hosted, Microsoft-certified SIP trunk as rapidly as five days, giving our partners and customers the agility they need for today’s dynamic market.”

“Our hosted environment makes it much easier and cost effective for service providers to offer Microsoft OCS-based, unified communications services, enabling them to extend their revenue stream and quickly meet growing customer demand,” said Bryan DiGiorgio, Chief Executive Officer for WorkSpace Communications.
