Apollo Hosting

Apollo Hosting offers a vast array of features and options to meet specific web hosting needs. Apollo is a good choice for your web marketing sites if you are confident in your ability to manage your own site independently. With Apollo, you can host up to four sites through a single account on Apollo’s basic plan.
However, other solutions we reviewed offer more storage and bandwidth as well as a more responsive customer support team.
Feature Set:
With Apollo’s value plan, your service will operate at a bandwidth of 100 GB and have access to 3 GB of storage. You can also utilize up to 50 email addresses with a monthly data transfer limit of 50 GB per month.
In addition, you can operate up to four unique websites (or sub-domains) accessible through one account. This money saving feature is great if you desire to host several small sites.
For ecommerce, Apollo Hosting offers a business and ecommercepro plan that include tools to help you build your site and storefront. These include a point-and-click storefront tool (a $695 value from Miva Merchant), real time credit card processing, automatic tax and shipping calculations, automatic customer receipts, Paypal readiness, repeat customer registration and other related tools to make managing your ecommerce business. You can check customer orders and modify your site anytime and from anywhere you have access to the Internet.
Apollo’s value plan supports PHP, Perl, FrontPage, MySQL databases, and a CGI directory, but does not support ASP. Apollo email service offers webmail, forwarding, catchall email, auto responders, SMTP, email, virus and spam protection.
Customer Service:
Apollo offers several support options such as email and toll-free customer telephone support from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST any day. However, using their call back service during business hours, we had to wait for over two hours to receive a call.
You can register for a tracking account at the email-based Technical Support Service Desk-through this service Apollo will track the technical help you receive, with a written resolution.
Apollo’s live chat feature is supposed to be available 24/7, but we were unable to reach an operator after 11:00 PM CST.
However, Apollo offers over 70 excellent online tutorials and an extensive FAQ section on their website to cover the basics. If you are new to web hosting, these tutorials and FAQs are excellent tools to learn the ins and outs of developing and managing your site.
However, if you encounter a challenging technical problem, Apollo may take a while to get back to you if you try to contact their customer support.
Control Panel:
Apollo’s control panel-the tool you use to create, manage and update your website-is simple to use and is loaded with features, including the option to view the controls English, French, German or Spanish.
Beyond the Control Panel basics, Apollo offers a “Traffic Tool Box” to help you get noticed on the internet using marketing tactics (such as submitting your site to search engines and implementing optimization tips). The Tool Box is free with the basic plan; you have the option of adding more marketing tools as needed.
Summary:
Overall, Apollo offers adequate tools, with their value plan, to manage reasonably one or several low traffic sites. Unfortunately, their bandwidth, low storage space and poor customer service cannot compete with our number one choice, Globat.
